Take Back the Tap is a campaign sponsored by Food and Water Watch that helps college campuses across the country switch from bottled water to tap water. Many universities have already banned plastic disposable water bottles in favor of using more sustainable and accessible methods of drinking tap water.
Drinking bottled water is bad for the environment, our health and our wallets. For more information about why tap water is better than bottled water, check out our fact posters below, read up on some research or watched the documentary Tapped.

What We've Done So Far
Since bringing Take Back the Tap to Marquette in 2012, SEAC has spread the word through events and received more than 400 signatures to end the sale of bottled water on campus. In March of 2014, SEAC played an integral role in getting Marquette's student government (MUSG) to pass legislation allocating funds for the purchase and installation of water bottle refilling stations around campus. The university plans to match the number of digital refilling stations bought by MUSG to make tap water even more accessible.

What We Still Need to Do
Now that there will be more refilling stations around campus, we will focus on getting reusable water bottles in the hands of all students. We will continue to spread the word and petition for the end of the sale of disposable water bottles at Marquette. After that, we will take our campaign to the administration to make the ban official!
How You Can Help
There are lots of ways to help with this campaign. Here are a few ideas:
- Stop buying plastic disposable water bottles.
- Encourage any clubs or student organizations you have joined to use large containers provided by event management for water instead of disposable water bottles at events.
- Sign the petition.
- "Like" the Marquette Take Back the Tap Facebook page.
- Tell your friends to do the same!
